Accessibility statement

Our commitment to making SnagGrid usable by as many people as possible, and an honest account of where we are.

Our aim

SnagGrid is designed to be used on a phone in the street, often one-handed, so accessibility and clarity matter to us from the start. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This statement is based on our own ongoing testing, not an independent audit, so we describe it as a work in progress rather than a guarantee.

What we have done

  • A logical heading structure on every page, and form fields with visible, programmatically-associated labels.
  • Keyboard operability for the core flows — reporting, sign-in, account and admin — with visible focus styles.
  • Status and error messages announced to assistive technology, and controls that expose their state (pressed, current, selected).
  • Colour contrast checked against AA thresholds, with a light and a dark theme.
  • Text that reflows and remains usable when zoomed or on small screens, and respects your reduced-motion preference.
  • Photographs are evidence, not decoration: descriptive content is in the report text, and decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.

Known limitations

We are aware of areas that may not yet be fully accessible:

  • The interactive map (used to view reports by location) relies on a third-party mapping component that can be difficult to use with a keyboard or screen reader. The same information is available in the reports list and in CSV export.
  • PDF letters generated by the app may not be fully tagged for assistive technology.
  • Some complex tables and charts may not yet expose every relationship to assistive technology.

We treat these as bugs to fix, not as settled, and we prioritise issues that block someone from completing a task.

Reporting a problem

If you find something that is hard to use, or you need information in a different format, please tell us — contact the administrator of your SnagGrid workspace, or reply to any email SnagGrid sends you. Describe the page, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology you use if relevant. We aim to respond within five working days.

Enforcement

If you are not happy with how we respond, public-sector users in the UK can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), which handles complaints about the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
